Town Manager Weekly Update - Friday, October 15, 2021
The Police Department conducted Police Officer Candidate testing this morning, Friday, October 15, to fill our last open position. We had 4 candidates participate in the testing.
Officer Y. Jimenez started with the department on Monday, October 11.
The Board of Commissioners voted to accept the awarded grant funding from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office in the amount of $42,000 to the Nolensville Police Department. Grant funds will be used for community-based traffic safety enforcement and education. NPD will use funds for capital outlay and overtime for fiscal year 2022.
One member of the Fire Department completed pumper driver training at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy this week and received state certification.
The department participated in the 2nd Annual Kicking for a Cause fund raiser.
The department responded to a small fire in a commercial building this week and one vehicle accident with the patient entrapped.
The department also participated with the Police Department during their Faith and Blue event.
Public Works Department
This week, the Public Works Department welcomed their 8th employee.
With the exception of a few small cosmetic touches, the department completed the installation of an office door for the permit counter in Town Hall. Doing this work ourselves has saved the Town well over $3000.
The department registered to attend the TCAPWA/SWANA 2021 Conference on November 3rd. The department will get a good view of equipment the department may be able to purchase in the future and will also attend two training classes: Disaster preparedness and pavement management.
Human Resources Department
The department published an RFP for an insurance brokerage firm to provide Employee Benefit Brokerage and Consulting services. The purpose of this request is to engage the services of an independent consultant to advise the Town pertaining to the Town’s employee insurance benefit programs. The Town is seeking a vendor who not only assists with the brokering of insurance and benefits but also assists in varied capacity as the administration associated with these benefits whether that be through personal assistance, proprietary software, or an online platform.
