Dogs can’t sweat to cool down like humans can. They also can’t unlock a door, roll down the window, and some may be unable to get attention if they need help.

Pets or children are just not safe in vehicles unattended, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

Nolensville Police Department launches Safe Streets, Safe Summer Initiative
With children out of school, parks and neighborhoods busier than ever, and community events taking place throughout the season, the Nolensville Police Department is launching the Safe Streets, Safe Summer initiative to keep Nolensville safe. These are the ways you can help keep the community safe this summer
Slow down in neighborhoods. Please obey the speed limits and stay alert, especially in residential areas, school zones, parks, and walking trails.
Drive distraction-free. Save your phone calls, text messages, and other phone-related activities for when you reach your destination. A moment of distracted driving can change a life forever.
Watch for pedestrians, cyclists, and e-bikes. As more people enjoy the outdoors, motorists should remain vigilant and share the road safely.
Lock vehicles and homes. Remove valuables from sight and lock your vehicle doors, even when parked in your driveway overnight.
Expect increased patrols. Officers will be conducting additional traffic enforcement and neighborhood patrols throughout the summer to promote safety and address community concerns.
Report suspicious activity. If something doesn't seem right, please call 911 or our non-emergency dispatch line at 615-776-3640. Your partnership helps us keep Nolensville one of the safest communities in Tennessee.
Together, we can make this a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer for everyone.
This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We are forever grateful for their courage, their service, and their unwavering dedication to our country.

The Nolensville Police Department proudly welcomes Taylor Gray as our new Crisis Response Program Coordinator.

Taylor’s position was made possible through a grant awarded to the Nolensville Police Department by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, supporting our continued commitment to enhancing crisis response efforts and strengthening partnerships within our community. The grant-funded position is currently funded through September 30, 2027.

In her role, Taylor will develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local mental health, behavioral health, and social service providers to strengthen coordinated crisis response and referral services within our community. She will support officer training and engagement, assist with program implementation and evaluation, and help connect community members with timely, informed, and compassionate support services.

Taylor earned her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed her undergraduate studies at Belmont University. She is trained and certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for first responders and in trauma-focused treatment for adults.

Taylor currently serves as a crisis counselor in Davidson County, assisting individuals experiencing mental health crises both in the community and within crisis diversion units. She previously worked alongside the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Behavioral Health Division and with the Family Intervention Program, supporting victims of domestic violence and other crimes.

Her professional passion is strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Taylor is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and enhancing crisis response efforts through collaboration, education, and compassion.

Over the past several months, the Nolensville Police Department has received a growing number of citizen complaints and has also observed firsthand an increase in issues involving e-bikes and electric dirt bikes. Many of these concerns involve unsafe operation, a lack of awareness among riders regarding applicable traffic laws, and uncertainty within the community as this technology has developed faster than public understanding of the laws that govern it.

In response, the Nolensville Police Department launched an initiative focused on education, awareness, and officer training. We partnered with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Williamson County Schools to help educate the community while ensuring our officers are fully informed about the legal responsibilities and enforcement options related to these devices. Our department has conducted roll-call training for officers, developed informational pamphlets for riders and parents, and worked to provide the public with clear guidance on what is and is not lawful.

Our primary concern has always been safety — the safety of juveniles riding these e-bikes, the motoring public, and pedestrians using our sidewalks and streets. While education remains a critical part of our approach, it has become clear that education alone has not been enough. As a result, we are now moving into the next phase of this initiative: enforcement.

This enforcement effort is not intended to punish children for the sake of punishment. However, we are seeing repeated violations and increasingly dangerous behavior. Juveniles who violate traffic laws while operating e-bikes, including riding unlawfully on sidewalks or roadways, may be cited. If a rider attempts to flee from law enforcement, that is a serious offense and may result in arrest and transport to juvenile court. Parents should also be aware that they can be held responsible if they knowingly allow unlawful behavior to continue, and they may face legal or civil consequences if property is damaged or someone is injured.

We want kids to enjoy being kids. We recognize that e-bikes are popular and, for many families, are exciting gifts and a convenient way to get around. However, many of these machines are capable of speeds exceeding 40 miles per hour. When operated without proper supervision, training, and respect for traffic laws, they can become extremely dangerous. Nolensville has already experienced several serious e-bike crashes, and we do not want to see a tragedy occur before this issue is taken seriously.

The Nolensville Police Department will continue its public education efforts and remains committed to training, transparency, and community engagement. Moving forward, enforcement will be an important part of that strategy. Our goal is not to take away fun, our goal is to protect lives.

We appreciate WKRN and Andy Cordan for partnering with us on this PSA and helping highlight the concerns we are seeing here in Nolensville.

Using your blinker isn’t just a courtesy, it's a safety measure. Always signal before every turn or lane change so other drivers have enough time to react accordingly.

Let Other Drivers Know Your Next Move
From 2024–2025, 1 in 14 crashes on Tennessee roads involved a distracted driver, with phone use ranking among the top causes. Distracted driving is completely preventable. 📵 Take control behind the wheel: set your GPS before you go and turn on ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode before you start driving. Make every drive a No-Cell Zone.

🚗 Check Your Tires, Don’t Guess on Pressure! 🚗

Always inflate your tires to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure, not the maximum number on the tire. You can find the correct pressure in your owner’s manual or on the driver’s side door frame label.

⚠️ Inflating to the tire’s maximum pressure can be unsafe. Protect your vehicle, your tires, and your safety. Check your pressure today!
