FAQ

I want to apply for a job with the Town of Nolensville but there are no vacancies that I am interested in applying for. What should I do?

The Town of Nolensville only accepts applications when there is a vacancy. If you do not see a vacancy you wish to apply for, please periodically check our website. The vacancies are usually posted for a minimum of two weeks.

I applied for a Firefighter position. What are the next steps?

Applications received for Firefighter are prescreened based on the minimum qualifications. The most qualified candidates will be notified that they are eligible to test for the position. The testing date will be determined by the Fire Chief and the Human Resources Director. Applicants who are not able to test on that date or fail to show up will be disqualified. There are no make-up testing dates. Candidates will take a written exam as well as a physical agility test. Candidates who pass both the written test and physical agility test will be asked to interview. Out of state applicants will be accommodated as best as possible by having both tests and the interview in the same day.

Candidates who interview will be ranked according to their application, written exam score, and oral interview score. These candidates will receive a letter showing them their rank.

Once the Fire Chief has selected a candidate, the Human Resources department will contact the candidate. All offers are conditioned upon the candidate successfully passing a physical, drug screen, polygraph, background check, and reference checks.

I submitted an application. Why haven't I heard anything?

Once the deadline for application has passed, applications must be pre-screened based on the minimum qualifications. Qualified applicants are sent to the Department Director for their review. From these applicants, they select candidates to interview. Candidates selected for interview will be contacted. After the interviews have been conducted, the Human Resources Department ranks candidates based on their education, experience, interview scores, and other relevant factors. Once a selection has been made and the selected candidate has been contacted, Human Resources will send e-mails to all applicants notifying them that the position has been filled.

You are welcome to contact the Human Resources Office at (615) 776-6680 at any time about your application. We can update you on how the job is progressing.
