Disaster Preparedness consists of the first 2 steps in the disaster management cycle: planning and preparing.
Most people have a misconception that a disaster will never happen to them. As residents of Middle Tennessee, we know that disasters aren’t an “if” but rather a “when. According to FEMA, Tennessee has had 15 declared disasters since 2020, most of them from tornados or severe weather.
We want to encourage you to explore the resource below to ensure you and your family are prepared when a disaster occurs. Following the ABC’s of disaster preparedness is a simple way to learn about preparedness while taking action steps to ensure you are prepared. Our safety flyers can be printed out for your convenience below. We also have activities to get children involved in learning more about disaster preparedness.
