Building Codes Info

In 2021, the Town of Nolensville adopted--by ordinance amending the Nolensville Municipal Code (NMC)--the International Code Council I-Codes, 2018 edition, as the Building Code of the Town of Nolensville for regulating and governing the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures; providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation and use; and the condemnation of buildings and structures unfit for human occupancy and use and the demolition of such structures as herein provided; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees.  Each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of the Building Code are on file in the office of the Town of Nolensville.

The following codes are currently enforced in the Town:

International Fire Code 2018 edition as published by the International Code Council (Title 7, Chapter 1, Section 7-101 of the NMC)
NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, 2018 edition as published by the National Fire Protection Association (Title 7, Chapter 2, Section 7-201 of the NMC)
International Building Code, 2018 edition plus appendices A and C as published by the International Code Council (Title 12, Chapter 1, Section 12-101 and Title 12 NMC)
International Plumbing Code, 2018 edition as published by the International Code Council (Title 12, Chapter 2, Section 12-201 of the NMC)

International Fuel Gas Code, 2018 edition as published by the International Code Council (Title 12, Chapter 3, Section 12-301 of the NMC)
International Residential Code 2018 edition plus appendices F, H, I, J and T as published by the International Code Council (Title 12, Chapter 4, Section 12-401 of the NMC) amended as follows:
  1. Section R101.1 insert “Town of Nolensville, Tennessee” in “Name of Jurisdiction”
  2. Section R103.1 creating the department of building safety is amended by deleting the phrase “Department of Building Safety” and insert “Building Codes Department.”
  3. Section R105.2 insert “11. Roof covering replacement that does not involve the replacement of structural components.
  4.
