Historic District Concept Plan and Funding

In 2014, the Nolensville Planning Commission unanimously approved a Historic DiHistoric Zoning logostrict master conceptual development plan to enhance Nolensville‚Äôs Historic Village Commercial area.  The primary goal of the plan is to further develop our downtown area so that it retains the historic small-town character while improving issues such as vehicular traffic flow, street alignment, parking, and pedestrian access and safety.  Beautification aspects like streetscape enhancements, landscaping and street lighting were addressed in the plan.

The Town's Land Use Policy Plan text was also updated to incorporate the revitalization of the Historic District.  It was decided that the financing of the revitalization would require grant funding from the State of Tennessee and Federal Highway Administration.

An application was submitted in March, 2018 for an Active Transportation Program grant through the Nashville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to fund the improvements in accordance with the concept plan.  The Town was awarded partial funding for preliminary environmental engineering and design work of approximately 1,000 linear feet of sidewalk, crosswalk, signage, curb ramps, pedestrian amenities, buffered bicycle lane, landscaping and ADA accessibility from Old Clovercroft Road at the south to an undetermined northern terminus on Nolensville Road.

The federal funding for the preliminary engineering and environmental design is equal to $500,000.00 with a $125,000.00 local match.  We look forward to working with the MPO, engineering consultants and the merchants of the Historic District as this exciting project develops into fruition.
